Supported Internships provide a route to employment for young people, aged 16-24 with an Education, Health & Care plan (EHCPs). Alongside time spent in work placements, students work on employability skills, functional skills, socialising, and overcoming barriers to employment supported by a job coach.
The project aims to:
- Double the number of supported internship opportunities in the region
- Create a network to support employers and organisations providing placements for supported internships
- Increase numbers of young people with EHCPs entering employment
- Provide information, guidance, and support for parents, carers, and professionals supporting young people with EHCPs moving towards employment
