Hope restored

Hope Restored

When I was struggling to afford rising living costs, I went to the Employment and Skills Pod for help finding a job to increase my income.

An Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Officer referred me to Citizens Advice for financial support, conducted a full benefits review, and provided ongoing support. They helped me regain my confidence to return to work.

With the support and encouragement of the IAG Officer, I started volunteering at a local charity shop for a few hours a week. Together, we updated my CV, wrote job applications, prepared for interviews, and built my confidence.

After applying for several part-time roles, I was offered an interview. I attended the interview and was successfully appointed.

I now feel much more confident, which has positively impacted my social life. I thought I was beyond help and didn’t know what to do. I love being out more and being back at work. The sessions with the advisor changed how I see myself.
